Michael Smith is a veteran songwriter whose name may be unfamiliar but whose songs are almost universally known. Michael Smith has been singing and writing since the early 1960's and his rich and challenging songs have been recorded by more than 30 performers, including Jimmy Buffet, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Anne Hills. He has performed at dozens of major folk festivals including the Kerrville Folk Festival, Black Mountain Festival, and Philadelphia, Owen Sound, and Winnipeg Folk Festival, and is considered by his peers to be one of today's most intelligent, literate songwriters.
Gerry Ryan &Charlie Ortolani are a versatile group who combine decades of musical experience to produce some of the sweetest harmonic and rhythmic sounds around. You may hear You may hear catchy original tunes, American acoustic classics, country blues, Celtic covers, swing and jazz standards. They have performed at Geoff Bartley’s Singer/songwriter nights at the Cantab Lounge in Cambridge, In a Pig’s Eye in Salem, MA, the MayFair in Harvard Square for WUMB-FM, and the Sit n’ Bull Pub in Maynard, to name a few. Gerry Ryan and Charlie Ortolani’s performances are always marked by captivating songs, strong intertwining vocals, intricate and tasteful guitar work, and the promise of a good time.
